With the installation of the new electrical loop on the west side of the Georgia Tech Campus between 8th and 9th Streets, Breedlove had the opportunity to improve the site and re-imagine the streetscape along Curran Street with the addition of a concrete retaining wall, allowing for a wider concrete walk. This enhancement not only improves the aesthetic appeal of the area but also provides a safer and more accessible pedestrian experience. The new design elements will complement the new electrical utility loop, creating a more cohesive and visually appealing streetscape for students, staff, and visitors. One of our favorite projects!!
Breedlove Land Planning partnered with Zoo Atlanta and Turner Construction Company to design improvements to the Southern White Rhino habitat in preparation for the baby rhino, who arrived on Christmas Eve 2023. Prior to the opening of Zoo Atlanta’s Grand New View and African Savanna exhibit, this space was home to the zoo’s African elephants. The redesign of this exhibit focused on making it home for the Southern white rhinos, and improvements included the removal of the moat, regrading of the exhibit to better suit rhinos, re-working the existing rockwork to allow for more open space and improved guest viewing, and the construction of a new shade structure. Breedlove Land Planning also assisted in the expansion and improvement of the guest viewing area, where rockwork was removed to provide additional guest viewing space and improve views into the exhibit.
