A non-profit paving the way for more women to lead at every level of marketing, media and tech.
About us
We have been invested in women’s leadership since we were first organized more than 100 years ago and ultimately became Advertising Women of New York (AWNY). We changed our name to She Runs It in 2016 because as the industry evolved, it became evident that our community encompassed far more than just advertising, and was far broader than just New York. Today we are a global organization with members in 42 states and 8 countries. When we started, we wanted to give more women a seat at the table. Now, we want to see more women at the head of the table. The reason is simple. Women are proven leaders. Women motivate. Innovate. Today, women run companies. Communities. Countries. They are growth-oriented leaders, and focus on steady, sustainable growth. Women are good for business. Companies with more women as leaders are also more financially successful. More socially responsible. And that’s good for everyone. Which is why we bring together both women and men who want to build the world we want to live in. A world where women lead at every level. · Where she runs businesses. · She runs departments. · She runs accounts. · She runs projects. · She runs her career. · She runs her life. · She runs it.

Join us for the 2nd Annual Breaking Barriers Event in Chicago! Presented by the Midwest Young Executive Committee, this evening promises to be a celebration of diverse paths to success. Everyone has their own definition of success: the path they take, the goals they set, the achievements they are most proud of, and how they envision the “finish line.” Recognizing that no two professional journeys are the same, we've programmed an evening of conversations, connections, and community to explore and celebrate the fact that the road to success is not a “one-way” avenue. Hear from Chicago-based business owners and industry leaders who define success on their own terms while living their best life. A Q&A session will follow. Moderator: Jordan (Jackson) DeCosmo DeCosmo, Omnichannel Media Lead at Whirlpool Panelists: Christina Bender, Sr. Director of Partnerships, Media.Monks Erica Bethe Levin, Founder/CEO, Globowl Leslie Lucas, Vice President, Paragon Marketing Group Sample goods and goodies from local Chicago brands including Beaded Seed by Ronea–handmade bobo Jewelry and GoHydrate –Electrolyte Water Enhancer.
