Feeling inspired after our first Excelerator (young professional leadership development program) Brunch 'N Learn event, with SFIA - Sports & Fitness Industry Association's own Tom Cove, President and CEO. Tom shared a treasure trove of career and industry insights, including: i) Recognize skill gaps and navigate them with integrity and confidence ii) Pursue authentic, win-win partnerships from start to finish iii) Embrace diversity in collaboration - it's essential, not just a nice-to-have iv) Invest in all athletes (especially those who don't fit the profile norm) to boost participation and fitness activity in all sports v) Listen to both spoken and unspoken brand feedback - silence can be so telling Tom emphasized the need for more women in youth sports leadership (coaches and officials) and the need to focus on the insights behind the numbers, not just data. His advice on learning from failure and the ability to pivot quickly to a new direction struck a chord. Finally, his recommendations for words to live by for the Excelerators were authenticity, confidence, reading the room, and choosing your battles wisely. This session was a perfect kickoff to our Excelerator Brunch 'N Learn Series running through November. #ProfessionalGrowth #SportsIndustry #LeadershipLessons

New regulations for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are impacting almost every industry, including fitness. How can sporting goods manufacturers meet compliance obligations and make the right testing decisions for diverse PFAS chemicals — before initiating costly testing campaigns? At the SFIA - Sports & Fitness Industry Association webinar on July 18, Exponent’s Sarahann Rackl, Ph.D., P.E., and Sara Hearon, MPH, PhD, along with Bailee Pelham and Anne Marie Ellis from Buchalter will present “Navigating PFAS Regulations: Addressing Challenges and Consumer Concerns.” This talk will provide a scientific and legal overview of PFAS laws and discuss how Proposition 65 is changing the way companies view PFAS testing and potential litigation, as well as offer practical recommendations on developing PFAS product stewardship and testing programs. 🚨 ALUMINUM EXTRUSION TARIFFS WEBINAR 🚨 Don't forget to register and join us next Wednesday, June 26 at 2 p.m. ET for our Aluminum Extrusion Tariffs: Impact on Sports and Fitness Equipment Webinar. A U.S. investigation has preliminarily found dumping and countervailable subsidization of aluminum extrusions from several countries, with dumping margins over 375% in some cases. The duties apply not only to aluminum extrusions imported on their own, but also to finished articles made entirely of aluminum extrusions and the aluminum extrusion content in many parts and subassemblies. The potentially high rates and the broad scope mean that the financial exposure created by these trade remedies will be significant for many importers. This webinar will focus on understanding how the case scope applies to imported sports and fitness equipment, what it means when items are in scope, and the next steps in the ongoing investigation Key Takeaways: -- Understand the case scope – what’s clear and what’s yet to be resolved -- Know what it means if an import is in scope, now and after the final determinations -- Prepare to interact with Commerce or Customs on scope issues -- Know what’s next in the investigations and what happens if orders are issued **FREE for Members** Register here: https://loom.ly/dI7rQT8
