Cognitive decline among older adults remains a touchy subject in #WealthManagement circles. 🧠 Clients don’t want to talk about it, families often avoid it, and #FinancialAdvisors are left in the dark until the problem becomes apparent. 🙈 Edward Jones financial advisor Julie Kelly has witnessed this problem firsthand. With over half her clients being 65 or older—including many retired physicians, researchers, and professors—Kelly's team manages $450 million in assets. To address this issue proactively, Kelly started inviting clients to an “Aging with Dignity” meeting when they turn 70, or sooner if recommended by a medical professional. 🌍 Aging Populations are Transforming the Diaper Industry 👶➡️👴 The global population is aging, with the number of people aged 65+ set to more than double to 1.6 billion by 2050. In Japan, this trend is pronounced: births hit a record low in 2023, while nearly 30% of the population is now 65 or older. This shift is having a surprising impact on the diaper industry. The global adult diaper market was valued at $12.8B in 2023 and is projected to reach $15.5B by 2026. Japan's market alone is expected to grow to $1.9B by 2026. 📈 In contrast, sales of baby diapers have decreased. 📉 Oji Holdings, a Japanese manufacturer, will stop producing baby diapers in Japan to focus on adult incontinence products, reflecting this demographic shift.
