CAR-T cell therapy is an immunotherapy used to treat certain types of blood cancer. Researchers genetically modify a patient’s own immune cells, called T cells. The modified “CAR-T” cells are infused back into the patient to help locate and destroy the cancer cells. Many therapy manufacturers create a second dose or backup of the patient’s CAR-T cells for safekeeping in long-term storage.
