About us
Founded by Agnes Stevens in 1993, School on Wheels is a nonprofit organization that provides one-on-one tutoring for kids who live in shelters, motels, group foster homes, and on the streets of Southern California. In addition to weekly tutoring and mentoring, every student receives a backpack, school supplies, and uniforms; students get assistance enrolling in school and with locating and filing school records. We do all this with no government funding. We survive through the donations of people like you who believe as we do that every child has potential and every volunteer makes a difference.

June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month, a time to celebrate and recognize the impact of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people on history. The month is usually celebrated in June to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which took place in New York City in late June 1969. The riots were a protest against police harassment of LGBTQ+ Americans and were a turning point for the Gay Liberation Movement. We celebrate equality & love for all.
