Before the summer I worked with VG-Lista Topp 40, getting the website and livestream ready for the big yearly concert. That means that there are a lot of small and big changes that have to be done. So my days have recently been spent making stuff in Figma, talking to stakeholders and sitting with a developer to see the sketches come to life. 🚀 What are you most excited about for Schibsted Media’s future? It is very exciting to be part of an environment where there is room for new ideas, experimentation and the exploration of new technologies that can elevate our journalism. With news avoidance becoming a bigger problem I think the latter is definitely exciting moving forward in terms of enhancing interactivity and personalisation. ☀️ How will you be spending your summer? I am going to Croatia with some friends for some turquoise water and much needed warmth! And then I’m also spending some time at my friend’s cabins, and for the first time I am going to the music festival Vinjerock in the mountains. AI tools can be powerful when working with investigative journalism 🔎 But how exactly are they used in our newsrooms? When E24 received a tip about Norway’s Minister of Science and Higher Education’s master’s essay being plagiarised, they delved into the case - using AI as a tool to investigate quickly. Could it be true she didn’t write it herself? 🔍 E24 used an AI tool to investigate the Minister’s master’s essay for plagiarism in order to find copied information from other sources in the text quickly. 💡 The tip turned out to be accurate. Several parts of the essay were identical to other students' work. ⌛ The analysis made by AI in the investigative work was, of course, checked and verified by E24 journalists. Journalists, not AI, were the driving force of the investigative process – but using AI as a tool allowed them to find results and publish the story in record time. The great thing about my job is the close collaboration with my colleagues, solving technical challenges and building a solution for the future setup. As a Tech Lead, I help my team plan and execute their work, contribute to the code and mentor developers to create quality software that meets business and end-user needs. 💬 What's a typical day in your life at work like? I get to work, slow-brew some coffee while catching up on Slack, emails and setting the calendar focus. Then I start chipping away at the main focus of the week as decided upon with my co-workers. We generally try to practice huddling virtually, so we can talk, interact, and collaborate, even though we are not geographically colocated. 💬 What do you like most about working within Schibsted Marketplaces? The scope and impact of changes being at a Nordic level. We build for multi-market and multi-region needs. Every day has a new challenge or a new option for learning and expanding your skillset. 💬 Tell us a little about yourself! I live in Ry, Denmark, also known as 'the highlands, ' though they pale in comparison to our Nordic cousins. I love swimming and running, as I find them calming and weirdly meditative.
