Last night, I had the chance to share my heartfelt thoughts about what Girls Inc. represents to me with a room full of people. Girls Inc. was my safe place, and I believe it continues to provide the same for young girls today. Girls Inc. goes beyond being just an after-school program; it offers a nurturing environment where girls can grow, learn, and thrive. The organization emphasizes boosting confidence, nurturing leadership skills, and creating a sense of community among girls. Girls Inc. opens up new possibilities for girls from Hamilton Hill or Arbour Hill that they may not have considered before. Girls Inc. empowers girls to embrace themselves, tackle challenges, and voice their ideas for positive change. Girls Inc. educates young girls on women's history that is often overlooked in schools, empowering them to be advocates from a young age. One thing I admire about Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region is how the staff invests time in building relationships with each girl, getting to know their names and stories, showing genuine care not only for the girls, but also for their families. Congratulations to Deputy Superintendent Joseph R. DiCaprio who was invited to participate in esteemed national Advanced Policy Leadership Program. DiCaprio recently participated in a policy studies fellowship, graduating from the New York Education Policy and Leadership Program sponsored by Fordham University Graduate School of Education and Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES. The program cohort included 25 fellows from throughout New York State, representing urban, suburban, and rural education organizations, who attended monthly sessions, engaged in a variety of discussions and collaborated on a team policy analysis project and presentation.
