Congratulations to the students and staff of the Peninsula and East Bay Coastal Crews from the Student Conservation Association (SCA) for completing their 5-week summer community crew programs. This week, a group of eight students, along with their team leaders Jeremiah and John, successfully completed constructing 1/2 of a mile (2,520 feet) of new cattle fencing at a conservation property south of Mayyan 'Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve. This new fence is crucial for safeguarding a sensitive riparian area where three natural springs meet, providing essential habitat for rare and native plants and wildlife. The staff at Open Space Authority were truly impressed by the students' swift work and their positive and dedicated work ethic. We are excited to continue collaborating with SCA in the future and are excited to witness the remarkable paths these talented students will take. We certainly hope they will keep an eye on future opportunities here at the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority. These students are the future of conservation, and the future is looking very bright!
