Today, Saint Edmond’s officially dedicated (and consecrated) the Wagner-Szczerba Engineering, Design & Gaming Experience Arena, commonly called the EDGE Arena. Ms. Wagner-Szczerba, the facility’s benefactor, was joined by school administration, board members, benefactors, parents, teachers & 7th grader students-- as well as very excited eighth grade Lancers anxious to show off their capstone projects demonstrating their proficiency in Python programming language, and electrical & mechanical engineering! Throughout the eighth grade year, students applied their understanding of computer science principles to authentic problems they identified, marrying their understanding of the Python computer language to the principles of design and engineering. This showcase served as the true measure of the success of the EDGE Arena and its programs. “Boys at this age thrive when learning is authentic, inquiry-based, related to their lived experiences, and technology-based,” comments Dr. Reichert. “These incredibly inventive and creative projects proved that theory, and I am incredibly proud of the work our boys put into their projects! This facility has absolutely helped our students tap into new areas that interest them, gain exposure to meaningful skills, and find and develop their passion.” #SEALancers #coding #electricalengineer #mechanicalengineer #STEM #problemsolving #middleschool #delaware #EDGE #python #computerscience
