Hi everyone, Kay Matthews here taking over Sage's social media channels today in honor of Black Maternal Mental Health Week. As a Black woman who has experienced postpartum depression personally, fought for improved policies for Black mothers in Texas, and dedicated over 10 years of my life to advocating for better support for the Black community during the postpartum period, I'm incredibly honored to share my answers to your questions about Black maternal mental health today. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to everyone who tuned into today's takeover. My hope is that after today, at least one person feels better informed and motivated to help make a difference for Black women who are disproportionally impacted by maternal mental health disorders. There's much more work to be done. To keep learning more, follow Shades of Blue Project on social media and check out our website for resources, information about our #BlackMaternalMentalHealthWeek Summit, and more at: https://bit.ly/3A2yPPF Warmly, Kay

Hi everyone, Kay Matthews here. I'm honored to be taking over Sage's social media channels today in recognition of Black Maternal Mental Health Week. Over the past decade, I've been on the frontlines, witnessing firsthand the unique challenges Black women face during the postpartum period. We know that cultural stigma, socioeconomic disparities, and inadequate access to healthcare resources all contribute to the high percentage of maternal mental health symptoms in our community. So, what can we do about it? Addressing these disparities requires a comprehensive approach that tackles systemic barriers while ensuring culturally competent and accessible support services. Numerous organizations and initiatives are dedicated to bridging this critical gap in care, offering tailored services to meet the unique needs of Black mothers. I'm proud to share that my organization, the Shades of Blue Project, will be hosting many of these incredible leaders at this year's Black Maternal Mental Health Summit. Stay tuned today on Sage's channels for my Q&A session and be sure to follow the Shades of Blue Project for updates, resources, and opportunities to make a difference. For Lisa V, a procurement specialist at Sage, dedicating time to her growing family was an empowering experience. "With two little ones under two—and the older one going through a sleep regression—I felt like my brain was turning to mush. But thanks to Sage's thoughtful benefits, like the food delivery gift card that kept my family fed while I recovered, I felt truly supported both physically and mentally." At Sage, we understand the challenges of balancing a career and family life. That's why our parental leave benefits go above and beyond, offering extended paid leave for new parents, 6 months worth of free diapers and baby wipes, breastfeeding support, and much more. While Huntington's disease (HD) has been referred to as a "movement disorder", research shows cognitive symptoms, like forgetfulness and impaired judgement, may impact an individual's quality-of-life years before physical symptoms of HD may appear. For caregivers like Katie Jackson, who lost her husband to HD 14 years after his diagnosis, it can be a painful, frustrating experience to see a loved one's mental abilities deteriorate as the disease progresses. "It's really hard to look at the person that could work, drive, pick up the children from school, and see it all lost, and they just have no clue it's gone." To all the caregivers and advocates committed to the HD community, thank you. Sage is proud to support organizations like Help 4 HD that provide resources for the HD community to help those impacted by this devastating condition.
