📢 We have officially began our 25th Annual Conference! The opening ceremony kicked off with an inspiring speech by our Executive Director, Natalie Boal, and President Peter Severin, setting the tone for an incredible event. They warmly welcomed all the esteemed speakers and attendees, expressing gratitude to the FOD Justitie SPF Justice for their invaluable support in organizing this conference. But that's not all! The highlight of the ceremony was the captivating Host Country Speech by Paul van Tigchelt, Belgium's Minister of Justice. Minister Tigchelt shared remarkable insights into the innovative approach of small-scale detention houses in executing short-term sentences. By focusing on rehabilitation, granting inmates more freedom and responsibility, and fostering reintegration, Belgium is leading the way in creating transition houses and modern facilities, ensuring a brighter future for those in the justice system. We were also honored to have the Mayor of Antwerp, Bart De Wever, extend a warm welcome to all the participants. Antwerp is ready to embrace this momentous event with open arms!
