The Institute of Living recently celebrated the conclusion of its 200th Anniversary with a campus community block party attended by over 400 colleagues, family, and friends. Attendees enjoyed swag bags, music, dancing, great food from local restaurants, and marching performances by the Hartford Magic Soul Drumline team. The festivities also included ways for all to express the mental challenges and joys of recovery many experience including a public art project, patient testimonials, and time capsule messages to future leaders. Thank you to all who organized, volunteered and attended as we took a moment to celebrate the past, honor the present, and look ahead to providing a future of patient-centered care fueled and supported by the healing power of our communities.

They move us with their compassionate care, impress us with their expertise and inspire us with their professionalism. They are the nurses of Rushford. We salute each and every one, and we’re proud to honor those chosen by their peers as 2024 winners of the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing. Jessica Smith, RN Jess took over the garden project for adult residential clients in Middletown, often bringing in supplies and volunteering personal time to assist clients with this recovery project. She also volunteers time in other client-focused projects like arts and crafts groups and provides essential oil diffusers in quiet spaces to help clients struggling through withdrawal. Thank you to all nurses – this week and always!
