BermudAir, the scrappy boutique airline linking Bermuda with US and Canadian East Coast destinations, expects to take delivery of its new ‘Aisle Class’ business seats by the end of 2024, though it is still mulling the final LOPA for its dual-class Embraer E175s. We get the lowdown from founder and CEO Adam Scott. https://lnkd.in/eUxNdaux

High above the show floors of this year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg was a conference room filled with representatives from the eighteen-member i+s cabin research partnership, demonstrating how they are working to move aircraft e-enablement, backend Internet of Things communications and connected cabin components beyond the ARINC 853 standard to real-world implementation. Funded and sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the i+s cabin partners range from Boeing and Airbus through tier 1 suppliers like Safran Cabin and Diehl Aerospace (the consortium leader), together with subsuppliers and academic researchers. https://lnkd.in/eVXAi_34

Breathing fresh innovation into the premium economy seating segment, Acro Aircraft Seating’s new INNOVARES platform utilises a combination of recline mechanisms, blending an articulated seat pan with a pivoting seat back. “This innovative design ensures a genuine pivoting recline experience for passengers, resulting in a ‘cradle’ effect that enhances overall comfort during extended flights,” explains Acro CEO Neil Cairns. “This allows INNOVARES to get the best of both worlds through a high pivot point, resulting in passengers experiencing no reduction in living space around their knees and legs when the seat in front reclines.” More: https://lnkd.in/gtjTFf-2

A new US DOT final rule requires airlines to issue refunds for inoperable inflight Wi-Fi, even if Wi-Fi is available for a portion of the flight. For the last four years, NetForecast has been monitoring the passenger experience for inflight Wi-Fi, including measuring and reporting on the percentage of each flight a passenger is able to access the Internet. Based on its experience, the firm believes it is uniquely positioned to help airlines formulate guidelines for setting a “fair and reasonable” threshold for Wi-Fi service availability; and then provide precise data about availability so that airlines can proactively issue refunds. We speak to company president Rebecca Wetzel to learn more. https://lnkd.in/eyV3qXuF

AJet passengers should expect to avail of “awesome connectivity at scale” when the low-cost carrier starts rolling out TCI Aircraft Interiors’ integrated inflight connectivity solution fleet-wide, Hughes, a key partner on the new program, says. State-owned satellite operator Turksat Satellite will provide the Ka-band geostationary (GEO) satellite service, whilst Hughes will leverage ThinKom Solutions, Inc.’s popular Ka2517 VICTS antenna and its own advanced IFC management capabilities. TCI, meanwhile, will draw on its advanced aviation engineering and integration capabilities for AJet. https://lnkd.in/eKYqdBTp
