Updates

  • We are excited to share an update about our strategic growth and community impact through the lens of the Kings County Family Room and its dedicated manager, Odain Brissett. At RMH-NY, we've always been committed to supporting families facing pediatric cancer and serious illnesses with compassion and care. Our latest initiative led by our President & CEO, Ruth Browne and our Board, represents a significant step forward in extending our services directly within hospital settings. Located at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, this Family Room provides a warm and supportive environment where families can find respite, connect with others facing similar challenges, and access essential resources—all without leaving their child's side. Under the exceptional leadership of Odain Brissett, the Kings County Family Room has become a beacon of hope for families navigating the complexities of pediatric illness. Odain and his team have transformed this space into more than just a room; it's a home-away-from-home where families can feel supported and cared for during their most difficult times. From lodging assistance to meals and educational support, the Family Room offers comprehensive services tailored to meet the diverse needs of our families. This expansion beyond our House reflects RMH-NY's commitment to innovation and inclusivity. By bringing our services directly into the heart of the community, we ensure that every family, regardless of their circumstances, receives the comfort and support they deserve. The Kings County Family Room not only alleviates the logistical challenges families face but also fosters a sense of belonging and community—a vital aspect of healing and resilience. Looking ahead, RMH-NY is dedicated to further expanding our reach through similar initiatives, leveraging partnerships and collaborative efforts to serve more families across New York City and beyond. Our goal remains steadfast: to be a beacon of hope and support for families when they need it most. Read more about our work and the impact of the Kings County Family Room in our latest blog post. Together, let's continue to make a difference in the lives of families facing pediatric illness. #FamilySupport #CommunityImpact #PediatricHealthcare #Inspiration #MakingADifference #nyc

  • A note from our President & CEO, Ruth Browne, as we reflect on the importance of today: Today, we join the nation in celebrating Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. This holiday is a symbol of triumph over oppression and reminds us of the ongoing fight for equality and justice. It’s a time to reflect on our progress and the work ahead. As a team dedicated to social impact, let’s use this day to reaffirm our commitment to a more inclusive and equitable society: engage in conversations, share stories, and celebrate our organization’s diversity and unity as we strive for a future where everyone is treated with respect and equality.   Let’s continue to create positive change. I wish all of you a meaningful and joyous celebration!
