About us
The Roland George Investment Fund is a student run investment fund that manages ~$6,200,000 of capital. The Roland George Program develops their own investment goals, objectives and criteria to manage the portfolio. Students in the program learn the essential functions of portfolio management by being exposed to a variety of leadership opportunities within the program. Students also utilize softwares such as the Bloomberg Terminal and Thomson Reuters Eikon to perform multivariate investment research and analysis. Students must defend their recommendations to other students and an investments committee, dominated by students who function much like the senior strategy group of an investment management firm. Their goal is to earn a return that funds the acquisition of special systems and software for the program, as well as to meet operating expenses. Presentations are held in a corporate-like boardroom setting in the Lynn Business Center. Twice a year, student presentations are open to the greater community at RGIP Public Trustee Meetings. Program size is limited to roughly 40 students and is made up of two class sections, Equity Fund Management and Fixed Income Management. The Roland George Program program was started on August 20, 1980 when assets of $500,000 were endowed to Stetson University. This gift fulfilled the dream of the late Mr. Roland George. He believed that students learn best from hands-on real world experience and has fulfilled his wishes to give current students an experience unlike any other.

RGIP had another great year at the Quinnipiac GAME Forum, with our Fixed Income Portfolio winning First Place for its 2023 performance. The RGIP Fixed Income Portfolio returned 6.9% in 2023, while the Bloomberg Aggregate Bond Index returned 5.5%. Congrats to Fixed Income Portfolio Manager Sugeeth Sathish and the entire 2023-2024 RGIP Cohort! This is the 5th time our Fixed Income Portfolio has won at the GAME Forum since 2011.

Best of luck to Isabella Thomsen, Jose Valcourt III, Sugeeth Sathish, and Devin Shaffer this week as they’re headed to Vancouver to compete in the Final Round of the NIBC Global Investment Banking Competition! They’ll be competing in front of a panel of senior professionals from the world’s largest Investment Banking, Private Equity, and Asset Management firms. They were selected as one of 72 teams to advance to the Finals out of more than 500 teams of both Undergraduate and Graduate students from top universities around the world. Great job representing RGIP on an international level!

We're incredibly proud of Sugeeth Sathish, Isabella Thomsen, Braden Hill, and Max Miller for winning the Florida Final of the CFA Institute Global Research Challenge, advancing to the Sub-Regionals. This marks the fourth straight year that a team from RGIP has won the Florida round. Excellent work, and we're excited to see what they can do moving forward!
