National Disability Independence Day commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990. While we celebrate this important milestone today, we make it our mission to work every day to promote equitable health for all Coloradans. Our incredible partners at the Northwest Colorado Center for Independence (NWCCI) empower seniors and individuals with disabilities to find their independence through advocacy, peer support, and education. About us
WE’RE ALL IN FOR ALL OF COLORADO At Rocky Mountain Health Plans, a UnitedHealthcare company, we’re committed to bettering the health outcomes and livelihoods of all Coloradans. Health equity is both a passion and a priority, and we work daily to close the gaps of disparity that exist for so many underserved populations across the state. We do this by forging partnerships with county and state leaders, by working with providers and organizations in our local communities, and by elevating our members’ voices to identify and deliver the resources they need and deserve. Every action we take is in support of our partners, colleagues, and neighbors. Together, we strive to make a real impact, right here in Colorado.

Expanding access to behavioral health care means supporting those who serve Health First Colorado members. We were honored to invest more than $40,000 in The Health Partnership Serving Northwest Colorado to help provide education to behavioral health and primary care providers on the intricacies of Medicaid so they can better serve these patients. For many people, Colorado's ski towns appear to be the epitome of picturesque recreational living. But for residents in those communities, it's a paradise paradox: Many face overwhelming mental health struggles and an alarming and disproportionally high suicide rate. It's an issue so large that some mental health experts have dubbed the Rocky Mountain states the ""Suicide Belt."" Now, organizations like Building Hope Summit County, a community initiative designed to create a more coordinated, effective, and responsive mental health system, are taking action to bring hope and resources to those who need it. We are especially proud to support Building Hope in one of our many efforts to help reduce the stigma of mental health issues, prevent tragedies, and promote better care and support. Together with UnitedHealthcare Community & State, we were honored to support Impact on Education's implementation of wellness centers in local high schools throughout the Boulder Valley and promote integrated mental health support for students. The centers are having a positive effect, with recent reporting showing that more than half of the 1,200 students who visited in the fall of 2023 have had multiple visits.
