🌟 Project Spotlight: Yellowstone River Bridge 🌟 We’re excited to highlight our latest project in Yellowstone National Park, located at Tower Junction, where the Northeast Entrance Road meets the Grand Loop Road. RockSol is providing construction inspection services for this Western Federal Lands Highway Division project. This project involves: ·        Replacing a 60-year-old bridge with a new 1,285-foot-long, 175-foot-high steel girder bridge featuring drilled shafts, concrete decking, sidewalks, and railing. Situated in a hydrothermally and geothermally active zone with multiple gas vents along the river's edge, the bridge construction will require sulfate-resistant cement and thermal monitoring of below-grade concrete curing. ·        Relocating the intersection 700 feet southeast, realigning 1 mile of Northeast Entrance Road, and reconstructing nearly 0.5 miles of Grand Loop Road. ·        Regrading the Northeast Entrance Road and removing the existing Yellowstone River Bridge, which includes restoring Lost Creek to its natural state, enhancing aquatic, riparian, and upland areas, and installing a new fish barrier. 🌟 Project Spotlight: US 36 Embankment Wall 🌟 RockSol provided Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering design services for the US 34 & 36 Resurfacing Project in Estes Park, CO for CDOT Region 4. 🚧 Project Update: I-70 Vail Pass Safety & Operations 🚧 Exciting developments are underway on I-70 Vail Pass. RockSol's team is assisting with construction management, inspection, and materials testing services for this CDOT Region 3 project. Two Construction Packages, CP4 and CP5, are progressing concurrently. The crew on CP5 is focused on removing the old westbound bridge at mile marker 185.5 and starting the erection of the substructure for the new eastbound Bridge. The CP 4 team is working between mile markers 187 and 190, moving fiber lines, constructing retaining walls south of the highway, and building a detour for traffic heading westbound on I-70. RockSol had a great time at "Bring Your Kids to Work Day" at CDOT Region 4 headquarters last week! We hosted an exciting drone demonstration and gave the kids a chance to take the controls and fly some drones. RockSol utilizes drones in a variety of ways on our projects. From design and construction to post-inspection, our drones are used for mapping, quantity tracking, environmental inspections, safety, documentation, progress photos, and much more. 🚧 Project Update: E-470 Widening – I-70 to 104th Avenue 🚧 The E-470 Widening project is making significant progress. Spanning 11 miles, it is slated for completion by September 2025 and has an estimated budget of $318 million. RockSol is providing construction and administrative support as a sub-consultant to Benesch. This transformative project involves adding lanes in both directions, constructing key interchanges at 38th Ave. and 48th Ave., widening the 64th Ave. bridge over E-470, relocating tolling points, removing Toll Plaza C, and partially reconstructing the interchange with Pena Boulevard. HEI Civil is also stepping in to handle the interchange at 48th Ave. These improvements will undoubtedly enhance the local community's connectivity and ease of travel. Highlights: ♦Paving of the final surface for northbound lanes kicked off on May 18. ♦We're currently laying down the final surface for the 38th Ave. bridge. ♦The 38th Ave (Aurora Highlands Parkway) interchange is nearing its finish line. ♦Girders are being placed for the second span of the E-470 structures over Pena Boulevard. ♦Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) and Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA) paving are in full swing. ♦ Cement Treated Subgrade (CTS) work is also ongoing.
