Did you know? Outsourced pharmaceutical manufacturing is about to become half of the total drug-making market this year. CDMOs, CROs and CMOs make up the bulk of this manufacturing market. Do you know the difference between them? CRO—contract research organizations provide early-stage research and development services, from pre-clinical basic science discoveries to clinical trials. Many of them focus on clinical trial research, regulatory affairs, planning, data management logics and biostatistics that are beyond the means of most academic laboratories and can partner with larger pharmaceutical firms. CMO—contract manufacturing organizations are focused on helping pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies manufacture new therapeutics and vaccines. This can involve commercial production, development, stability testing and optimizing, formulations, and manufacturing methods. CDMO—contract development and manufacturing organizations, like Ritedose, provide comprehensive, fully integrated research, development and manufacturing support. This includes regulatory expertise, clinical trials, formulation development, packaging, fill-and-finish, supply chain, quality control, and technology transfer. These three main organizations can work in synchrony, as well. CROS and work with CDMOs, for example, to maintain a seamless pathway between research and final manufacturing steps. CMOs can also help fill capacity needs for CDMOs. Find out more about the CDMO services Ritedose provides to its existing and potential customers!

Happy 4th of July! We could do the routine post about celebrating this holiday and put out a generic post, but we figured we’d do something to highlight a famous American chemist born today! ER Squibb was born on July 4th, 1819. A pioneering pharmacist, he founded the pharmaceutical company E.R. Squibb & Sons in 1858. His innovations and ethical standards significantly impacted the pharmaceutical industry, emphasizing rigorous quality control and the importance of ethical practices in medicine.
