Access to justice is a fundamental human right. On July 17, we acknowledge the importance of upholding and defending the system of international criminal justice as an essential tool of the international community to promote peace and security. #WorldDayforInternationalJustice serves as a poignant reminder in the fight against impunity for the victims of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. Introducing a new platform for change for Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights. Significant Other’s team worked closely with RFK Human Rights to create a new website that shines a light on developments in #humanrights issues across the globe, and the important work they are doing to support peace and justice. Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights was created in 1968 to carry on Senator Kennedy’s legacy and forge ahead with his unfinished work. Today it is led by human rights lawyer and activist Kerry Kennedy, along with a team of committed attorneys, issue experts, advocates, entrepreneurs, and writers. Together, they work to ensure freedom of civic activism, hold leaders accountable, and speak truth to power, in partnership with frontline advocates all over the world. The new digital platform features versatile new tools for storytelling and page building, promoting discovery through thoughtfully integrated theme and issue tags. It programmatically creates links between content based on shared topics, regions and issues, and celebrates the people who are fighting to hold governments accountable around the world. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this project, including: John Ryan, Jacob Sharrard, Nicole McNulty, Christopher White, Adrian Trimble, Roberto Cinetto, Noah Ortmann, Zain Hansrod, Anika Jingco, Shawn Ragell, Lynn Gammie, and Dylan Welsh! #websitedesign #digitaldesign #nonprofit

Earlier this year, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution designating July 11th as the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica. Today, we honor those whose lives were unjustly taken. Recognizing and confronting the truth is a crucial step towards remembrance, healing, and reconciliation. We must continue to foster a world where human rights are safeguarded for all, the rule of law is respected, and justice is served. Ten years ago, police murdered Michael Brown, a Black teenager walking on the street with his friend. Today, his mother seeks justice at the @CIDH_IACHR (Inter-American Commission on Human Rights). At 4 p.m. EST, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights and Howard University School of Law join Mike's mother, Lezley McSpadden, in demanding accountability and reparations from the U.S. government for the extrajudicial killing of Michael Brown. The hearing is the culmination of a case we filed before the Commission nine years ago, alleging violations of the human rights of Mike and his mother under the American Declaration of the Rights and Duties of Man. In the decade since Mike's murder, hundreds of thousands of protestors have demanded that U.S. police acknowledge that Black Lives Matter. But as my colleague Delia Addo-Yobo reminds us, "more people were killed by police last year than any other year on record." Today's hearing continues the urgent fight against anti-Black police brutality. Join us through the link below.
