About us
Rewiring America is a growing nonprofit focused on electrifying our homes, businesses, and communities. Our world-class team develops accessible, actionable data and tools. We’re the conduit for Americans to achieve energy efficiency, tackle nationwide emission goals, improve health, save money and build the next generation of the clean energy workforce. We believe in an abundant, flourishing, climate-safe future, and know that, together, we can realize one. Founded in the summer of 2020, Rewiring America’s purpose is to make electrification simple, measurable, and inevitable. Every single opportunity to replace a car, water heater, furnace, dryer, cooktop, and even lawn equipment that runs on fossil fuels is an opportunity for electrification. We are committed to using the best data and analysis to build market-transforming partnerships and tell the stories of transformation and success that people will relate to, gravitate to, and want to join. We are outcomes-oriented, focused on achieving national emissions goals, improving our health, lowering monthly bills and creating millions of clean energy jobs. We know this is the decade that matters, and that our collective success winds through and depends on all of us.

Hear from our very own Sarah Lazarovic on climate comms, creativity, and costumes (heat pump costumes, to be exact) ⬇
Shami Barooshian was one of the best interviewers I've ever chatted with. Didn't feel like an interview so much as a FUN conversation with a super smart person. We talked about climate comms, personal agency, and dancing heat pumps, of course. Shami works at LaunchSquad, and The Cooler is their new publication slash podcast about communicatin' climate. Please also check out the first ep with the excellent Kip Pastor! It does feel like climate comms, and the venues for talking and sharing it, is improving at the wildest clip, even as we need way more voices, perspectives, ideas, lived experiences, media, messages, sandwiches! https://lnkd.in/g8REUNuE

Electric, electricer, electricest? Doesn't quite work, but electric things can still be made superlative. For example, switching electric resistance out for heat pumps makes a ton of sense when you consider all the savings, comfort, and pollution reduction such a switch delivers. Our Senior Director of Policy Kristin G. Eberhard, JD shares why we should electrify electric resistance.

“Every single community, that’s every building that’s heated off of diesel, or heating fuel, they have to barge that in. We’re just one natural disaster away from not having the ability to heat our homes. A lot of people felt that when the barges did stop. That was a concern. And it was like, ‘Whoa, this could actually happen. We have to figure out how to become more independent.’” That’s Alana Peterson, the executive director of a nonprofit that supports entrepreneurs in southeast Alaska. In Alaska’s rural communities, fossil fuel is expensive. That combined with the area’s hydroelectric facilities makes electric heat pumps a very attractive option. One that’s affordable, resilient, and independent. [📰: Alaska Public Radio]
