📣 Big news! We are excited to announce that RestoringVision has been awarded a $4 million grant from Founders Pledge to restore sight to 2.5 million people with presbyopia in India and Nigeria. Yesterday marked the first day of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) #2030InSightLive Conference in Mexico. RestoringVision CEO Pelin Munis, Ph.D., chaired an informative and insightful session titled "Scaling Up Refractive Error Services." We were honored to have Moises Sifren, Sumrana Yasmin, Cony Palos, and Jacqueline Grove join us. Our panel of global experts provided an in-depth exploration of the global vision crisis, identifying key drivers and presenting scalable, cost-effective solutions with high impact. Participants also gained insights into opportunities to accelerate progress towards the WHO SPECS 2030 goals, aiming to increase refractive error coverage by 40-percentage points. We are so proud to have convened the session "Solving Presbyopia at Scale: Accelerating Achievement of Global Refractive Error Goals,” to shine a spotlight on this naturally occurring eye condition that makes up more than 80% of the global vision crisis. As part of the IAPB 2030 INSIGHT LIVE conference, global leaders in eye health highlighted the presbyopia challenge and presented innovative models for addressing it at scale. It was a session filled with valuable insights and perspectives. 🌟 Exciting moments from the Bayer Foundation’s Social Innovation Days 2024 in Berlin! 🌟 Mark Lorey, RestoringVision’s VP of Global Programs and Impact, led a powerful panel session titled "Collaboration is Key: Scaling through Partnerships." This forum brought together over 140 social innovators, foundation reps, and civil society leaders for vibrant discussions and networking. 🙌✨ With support from the Bayer Foundation, RestoringVision, along with Results for Development and Healthy Entrepreneurs, is part of the Million Lives Collective. Together, we've piloted an innovative model to sell affordable reading glasses across rural Uganda. A recent impact assessment by 60 Decibels showed extraordinary increases in customers’ ability to work, income, confidence, and independence – all resulting from the purchase and use of a pair of reading glasses. 💪👓 Honored to share this journey with visionary Bayer Foundation Executive Director Dr. Monika Lessl and other dedicated changemakers. We are thrilled to introduce Katrina Posey, who joined RestoringVision in April 2023 to lead our finance and accounting team. Katrina was appointed Treasurer to the Board of Directors in August 2023 and promoted to Vice President of Finance and Accounting in January 2024. As a member of our leadership team, Katrina is at the forefront of our financial strategies and oversight, helping us grow rapidly and address the global vision crisis. Katrina's career includes valuable experience with technology startups, KPMG, and nearly six years at The Coca-Cola Company. She brings a wealth of expertise from various industries and geographies, as well as strong communication skills that have enabled her to excel in presenting financial data.
