One of the things we talk about a lot is how wireless charging mitigates #laborshortages by enabling automation for material handling fleets. But did you know that wireless charging helps fill the #talentgap in other industries, too? 🤔 Take healthcare, for example. In the next ten years, the U.S. will need 124,000 more primary care and specialty physicians than are available. 😯 This is one of many reasons why the hospital-to-home care transition has continued long after most pandemic practices have ended. Research has shown "Hospital at Home" programs improve outcomes and lower costs. Most people prefer to receive care at home and physicians want to provide preventative care remotely to help more people, sooner, while saving acute resources for those in need. 🏥 Because growing demand for care is outpacing the number of caregivers who can provide it, #healthcareathome is inevitable. The only question is whether providers and the partners they depend on, like #medicaldevice makers, can meet the demand and give people the tools they need to easily manage their own health from wherever they are. 💚 #futureofhealthcare

Did you know that hybrid #forklifts have been around almost as long as forklifts themselves? 🤔 It's true. Because businesses needed forklifts that could run for a full work shift, manufacturers experimented with different fuel types from the early years of material handling, discovering that lift trucks with various gasoline-electric hybrid engines were very effective. 📦 Then, in 1942, CLARK Material Handling Company introduced their first battery-powered forklift, called the “Carloader”, which was built to complete a full work shift on a single charge. 🔋 Flash forward and by 2010, more than 60% of all lift truck purchases were electric. ⚡ A few years later, the first lithium-ion #forkliftbatteries became widely available, making it possible for forklifts to charge faster and more frequently. Trucks no longer had to last a whole shift on one charge. 🙌 Today, #energysolutions like #wirelesscharging and next-generation #batterytechnology save fleets time and money, while making them more resilient to labor challenges and customer demands. ⬅ It's the next phase of a long history of forklift #innovation transforming how we work, how we move goods around the world, and how we live. 💪 #forkliftfriday 📷: Michael Kauer

#throwbackthursday to this Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth profile on our co-founder and National Academy of Inventors fellow Professor Charles Sullivan. "As power electronics enable people to live better—with smaller and more powerful consumer devices, longer-lasting lifesaving medical devices, and more efficient electric vehicles—the technologies will be better for the planet as well." Thank you Charlie for leading the charge (pun, intended 🤣 ) to power a better world. 💚 #cleanenergy #leadership #bettertogether #thefutureiselectric

    5. 1 in 5 U.S. adults experiences chronic pain. 5 or more medications are being taken by almost everyone (98%) 65 and older. 5 may not seem like a big number, until you think about what it means. Studies have shown fewer medications = fewer harmful side effects and hospitalizations. But historically, Americans haven't been taking fewer medications. Now, more doctors are turning to treatment options other than drugs, like spinal cord stimulators for pain. And hospitals are incentivized to reduce repeat hospitalizations. For example, through the Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP), hospitals must reduce avoidable readmissions to maximize their Medicare reimbursement. This means providing patients with the best treatment for their chronic conditions, at the hospital and at home. Which is why charging is key. Resonant Link's wireless charging allows patients to charge implanted devices like spinal cord stimulators while they move, so they avoid adverse side effects from sitting or laying still to recharge their devices. Charging starts instantly and takes just 20 minutes, so it fits into patients lives as opposed to forcing them to live differently. Research shows clinicians and patients want rechargeable devices, but many experience failed recharges. If they can't use their devices properly, they'll end up back in the hospital, and hospitals will get less from Medicare. It pays to provide better recharging. And it's also the right thing to do. #patientcare #wirelesscharging #betterbusiness

During this year's annual meeting, the World Economic Forum linked technology and trust, encouraging us to use technology as a force for progress. 🤝 Technology is "a tool we can leverage to build better businesses, stronger economies and healthier communities — to make a real difference in the world" it said. "Technology can help restore trust, by building stronger economies, by creating better-paid and more fulfilling jobs, and by scaling sustainability impact." It's up to us whether and how we accept this challenge, and join companies like Mercedes-Benz AG, Siemens, and Intel Corporation implementing #upskilling programs and using technology to increase economic and environmental #sustainability. 🌏 For us, the goal of technology is to improve people's lives, like using automated, contactless charging to eliminate unloved and unsafe work in manufacturing facilities and warehouses. Or pioneering new medical devices to meet unmet needs and improve #healthcare.⚕ It's a major reason we do the work we do. We all have impact. It's up to us what kind. #bettertogether

Seeing our local rivers rise as quickly as they did, and flooding that's so eerily reminiscent of last year's, has been a bit surreal. But the help our communities need to recover - and keep recovering - is very real. The VT Flood Response & Recovery Fund has remained open since it was created a year ago and is ready to provide much needed support for our neighbors. Please consider helping however you can and stay safe wherever you are. #vtstrong
