🌿 Partnering with Thrive Market for a Plastic Waste-Free Future 🌿 We understand the challenges brands face with plastic use. Plastic remains practical and affordable. But its environmental impact is undeniable. We've partnered with Thrive Market to tackle this issue head-on. In 2023, we launched the Thriving Together Plastic Action Working Group. We welcomed 102 conscious brands to join us on a plastic reduction journey. In the 2024 cohort, 128 brands are actively participating: setting actionable goals to reduce their plastic footprint. Together, we've already recovered over 800,000 pounds of plastic from nature! But we're not stopping there. Our collective aim is to recover 1 million pounds of plastic waste. In addition to funding recovery, the working group empowers brands to make a difference. Through educational webinars, one-on-one guidance, and hands-on support, we're building a community dedicated to sustainability. 🌱 Follow-up comment: Read the article about our partnership with Thrive here: https://lnkd.in/d5v4uzWX

🌍 Impact gaps are fundamentally financing gaps. To reduce mismanaged waste by 90% by 2040, we need to invest $5.2 trillion annually into our circular economy. The UN Global Plastics Treaty offers a guiding vision for tackling plastic waste, but achieving this requires substantial financial investments from the private sector. $5.2 trillion sounds intimidating. But at 0.2% of global GDP it is achievable. By working together, we can turn this vision into reality and create a sustainable future for all. Global plastic waste has skyrocketed from 180 million tonnes in the 1990s to over 350 million tonnes today (OECD - OCDE Global Plastics Outlook). Packaging contributes nearly 40% to this figure. Rethinking packaging strategies is a crucial role that brands can play in the fight against plastic waste. There are many ways for brands to reduce plastic pollution. From using biodegradable materials to designing for reuse and recyclability; to supporting robust recovery and waste management infrastructure programs. Consumers are also increasingly looking to engage with conscious brands that take action on plastic pollution, so it can be a win for brands as well as for the planet. 🌱 #PlasticRecovery #EnvironmentalImpact #CircularEconomy #Sustainability
