From July 10-11, 2024, the Greater China, India Subcontinent & South-East Asia Delegation came together in the vibrant city of Hong Kong.    This meeting provided to our members a valuable opportunity for exchanging ideas and best practices, enhancing our collective expertise and community spirit. The unique charm and hospitality of Hong Kong enriched the experience, making it unforgettable.   A highlight of the gathering was the extraordinary chef collaboration showcasing three of our #RelaisChateaux chefs: Vicky Lau from Tate Dining Room And Bar, Varun Totlani from Masque Restaurant in India, and Haipeng Ren from Jiexianglou at Seven Villas in Hangzhou. In honor of World Oceans Day, these culinary artists crafted a stunning sustainable seafood menu, demonstrating their dedication to ocean conservation and eco-friendly practices.

Last week, the Japan & Korea Delegation gathered in the picturesque setting of Matsumoto at Tobira Onsen Myojinkan.   Our esteemed Owners, Maîtres de Maison, and dedicated teams came together to engage in meaningful discussions, covering topics from brand awareness to sustainability initiatives:    ● Bettei Senjuan showcased their innovative approach to sustainability by utilizing heat from natural hot springs to warm the entire building and replacing all lights with LEDs, significantly minimizing their environmental impact.   ● The Uza Terrace Beach Club Villas demonstrated their commitment to biodiversity through their farm & ocean-to-table initiative, coral planting activities, and native tree planting programs, all certified by Okinawa Prefecture.   Participants also enjoyed traditional Japanese hospitality with a delightful aperitif and dinner, dressed in traditional Yukatas.   Thank you to all our members for their active participation and to Tobira Onsen Myojinkan for hosting this memorable event.   #RelaisChateaux

Looking back on an inspirational chef get-together in Buenos Aires. More than 30 chefs from 8 countries across our Central & South America delegation met in Buenos Aires for 3 days of culinary inspiration, thought-provoking discussions and unforgettable meals, at the latest of the Relais & Châteaux Chefs’ Clubs. Led by Vice President, Chefs, Mauro Colagreco, and Chef Delegate, Norman Brandt, the community took time to reflect together on sustainability, reducing single-use plastics, how to find and channel creativity into a dish, how to be better leaders in the kitchen, and much more. Some of the country’s most renowned food personalities, including TV presenter Dolli Irigoyen and sommelier Pablo Rivero, also joined the festivities, providing education and inspiration. Learning about Argentina’s world-famous culinary culture was also on the menu, with the chefs enjoying an impressive tasting experience at 2-Michelin-starred Relais & Chateaux Aramburu Restó, visiting a local market and trying plenty of local asado. #RelaisChateaux

EELS CANNOT BE BRED IN CAPTIVITY as they have a life cycle not completely understood by scientists. That’s why #RelaisChateaux chefs globally, like Vicky Lau from Tate Dining Room And Bar in Hong Kong, have removed eel from their menus to mark #UNWorldOceansDay. Eel farms simply catch immature wild fish (that have not yet had the change to reproduce) and raise them until they are large enough to eat. Meanwhile, eel stocks globally are endangered, facing multiple threats, from overfishing to habitat loss and obstacles that block their migration. One way we can #AwakenNewDepths is by removing eel from all our menus. We can cut demand and help stocks replenish. With Ethic Ocean, this is our #SOSforBiodiversity, to Save Ocean Species. Send your own #SOSforBiodiversity, just say #EelNoThankYou. https://lnkd.in/em3Fj-cA United Nations Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of The Sea (UNDOALOS) Oceanic Global United Nations UNESCO IUCN

Last week, The MICHELIN Guide unveiled its new hotel rankings in Japan. This distinction rewards the best hotels in Japan that offer outstanding experiences. Hotels are judged on five criteria: architecture and interior design, quality of service, personality and character, value for money and contribution to the local experience. We are proud to count 6 of our japanese members in this ranking. - Three keys went to Gora Kadan - Two keys went to Asaba and Nishimuraya Honkan  - One key went to Beniya Mukayu, Bettei Senjuan and Kanamean Nishitomiya. Congratulations to Gora Kadan, one of the only six properties awarded with 3 keys in Japan. The full list of MICHELIN Key Hotels can be found here : https://lnkd.in/eHRjr2D7 ミシュランキーを6の施設が獲得しました。
