Stone Point Capital hosted REACH Prep Scholars for the second annual Resume Building Workshop at their office in Greenwich this week. Stone Point Capital’s Co-Chief Executive Officer, James Carey, greeted everyone and led a session about building a strong resume. Scholars then worked one-on-one with employees who helped them update their resumes. Students also met with REACH Prep alumna Cindy Ruiz from Cohort 8 who works at Stone Point and is on REACH Prep’s Associate Board. We are grateful for our many corporate partners and their valuable support of our scholars and program. Employees at ITT Inc., donated the school supplies our Prep Academy Scholars needed for their summer classes and assembled backpacks for each student. When scholars returned to Prep Academy last week, they had brand new backpacks filled with essential school supplies waiting for them, ensuring they had all the materials they needed to be successful. Last month, I graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in Political Science and Business Management. This milestone would not have been possible without the incredible support from so many people. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at REACH Prep for being the cornerstone in my academic, personal, and professional growth. I will forever be grateful for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout the years. I also want to thank my parents, whose sacrifices and love have given me the foundation to reach for my dreams. As for my next steps, I am happy to announce that I’ll be starting a position as an Investment Analyst at Union Capital Associates, LP. I’m so eager to begin this new chapter and I look forward to seeing what comes next.

I am thrilled to announce that I have started my journey as a Product Engineering Intern at ITT Engineered Valves! Already one week in, I have learned so much about the design, manufacturing, and testing of the special diaphragm valves Engineered Valves creates. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to learn and grow, and I look forward to contributing to impactful projects in collaboration with talented professionals. A huge thanks once again to Maribel Martinez at REACH Prep for connecting me with this opportunity, and to all friends and family for the constant support.

Last week, 16 REACH Prep Scholars attended a workshop hosted by Walmart Connect at their headquarters in Hoboken, NJ to prepare them for their summer internships and first jobs. Walmart executives across various departments spoke to our Scholars about transitioning from academics to the workplace, preparing for their internships, making the most of these opportunities, and the best utilization of LinkedIn. Scholars were also joined by several VPs and Directors to network during lunch and had the chance to have headshots taken for their LinkedIn profiles. This was a meaningful experience for our Scholars as they prepare to start their careers, and we are grateful to Walmart Connect and Benjamin Keith for hosting!
