Mean while back on the Overlook Ranch. It’s the first time I’ve used the Range Ward Razer Grazer. It was the perfect solution to make an exclusion zone to keep cattle out of the storage areas under the barn. I could have picked a less rainy day to prevent the two shocks I earned, but what would have been the fun in that? I am very happy with the system. It provides limitless versatility and plenty of persuasions for man and bovine alike to respect its boundaries.

Last week my connectFirst Credit Union colleagues and I had the opportunity to attend a field day at Whispering Cedars Ranch with our members, Janna & Ryan Greir. Always innovating at the ranch and with Solar Sheep, they brought together folks that they work with to stay ahead of the curve in their operations. Sarah Schumacher from Wheatland County and Sonia Bloom from Foothills Forage & Grazing shared some great grants that are available to producers. One of which is the ALUS grant, which Whispering Cedars has recently used to plant around 700 trees, to create a protected area for wetland wildlife on their property. I'm from the community and am personally excited to see how it increases biodiversity for the area. Neil from Range Ward demoed their very cool mobile fencing, which utilizes solar charging technology so that you can graze anywhere. Jeff from OneCup AI shared the incredibly interesting work that they're doing in using AI to help livestock producers manage their flocks/herds, ensuring everyone is healthy and thriving. Solar Sheep uses the technology both on the farm, and with a mobile unit onsite at the solar fields when the flock is out grazing there. The technology behind it is really something else, and I encourage you to check the work that they're doing out. It's game changing. Thank you so much to Ryan & Janna for inviting us out for a day full of learning and lambs. You really can't ask for much more than that.
