It’s Mental Health Awareness Month and the theme is, “Where to Start: Mental Health in a Changing World” (courtesy of Mental Health America). That can be a question many ask as the world constantly evolves and the pressures from work, school, relationships, current events, etc., impact mental health.
For those of us in the healthcare industry, we understand that taking care of others and the shifts in our industry can feel like a lot – and it’s OK to make room for taking care of your own mental health. Although the following tips may seem small, it can be a good start to putting your mental well-being at the forefront: 1) List 5 things you are grateful for; 2) Surround yourself with positive affirmations; 3) Talk about mental health; 4) Replenish with water; 5) Reduce screen time.
Today, and each day, let’s continue to work at destigmatizing the conversations around mental health, recognize everyone has some degree of mental health struggles, and know that there are resources – both big and small – to turn to so that we can all live a happy, rewarding life.
