Human connection. It’s what makes us … well … human. And I’m finding, human connection is the key to success in life. Let’s be honest, human connection is healthcare as well. From the patient perspective: As physicians we are in rare situations where we are acutely saving lives. More often than not, we are (or should be) connecting with our patients. Sure, accurate diagnosis and treatment recommendations are essential. However, it’s reassurance, empathy and hope that our patients need most. Human connection from the perspective of the physician entrepreneur: While at the #aua2024 meeting I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with friends, old and new. As I stand here with a new friend Mark Babbitt of Promptly Patient Experience Suite, the irony is not lost on me as we discuss AI solutions in healthcare to improve the patient experience. David Canes, a fellow urologist entrepreneur improving patient education with WellPrept, and I discussed the importance of connections as we are both scaling our businesses. A warm introduction beats a cold email 7 days a week. From my personal perspective: Deep human connections keep me inspired, and honestly happy. So, I’m done with networking.
