This week marks my third month with Promaxo and my 48th completed case. So far, I have gotten the opportunity to see Promaxo in action at sites in 8 states across the U.S. I’d like to thank my team for allowing me to shadow them in live cases and for the amazing Physicians and staff who have been involved and have allowed Promaxo to engage in their workflow for a new way of PCa detection. For the past seven years, if you would have asked my friends and family what I do for a living they would have said a version of "Kelly travels to remote places at odd hours carrying the world's largest suitcase of medical equipment" or, "I think she does something in surgery, she's always wearing scrubs" - which to be fair.. is not untrue. However, I *finally* took the time to make a presentation to give to those in my personal life about what I actually do for work, so these vague ideas of my day to day could be put to rest (still waiting on a Grey's Anatomy episode to center on a clinical specialist so I could just copy and paste a Youtube link, but I digress). I often forget that before graduating in 2017 that I too had no idea that clinical engineers and roles within clinical support existed, or that they were so vital to the medical community. Being able to share the various experiences and companies I have worked with over the past 7 years and the passion I have for new technology with those who know me outside of scrubs, was long overdue. It also perfectly coincided with hitting 6 months in my newest role at Promaxo. Getting to "present" on the team of people I collaborate with on a day to day, and share the sites in over 7 states I've been able support since being hired is actually a lot more fun than I had anticipated (so fun I might now show it to uber drivers who ask me what I do for a living). Working with disruptive technology continues to be such a driving force in my career, and this role has continued to reinforce that advances within the medical technology space continue to be revolutionary. Over the past month, I've had the privilege of supporting cases at The Urology Clinic in Sumter, SC as they onboard the Promaxo MRI system— a pivotal step towards early detection and treatment. On the road, I've covered over 1,000 miles, dedicated to bringing critical diagnostic solutions to healthcare providers in the region. And, every mile is well worth it!
