As adoption of the product operating model spreads, more and more organizations realize they may need some help. And more and more people are becoming product coaches to help those organizations out. The trick is finding a product coach that has the type of experience to help out your organization. This week’s resources explore product coaching, who you should (and shouldn’t) look to for help, and when you may not need a coach. And to top things off, we include a deep dive into Shopify. Meanwhile, in product news, folks in Houston took tracking power outages into their own hands. And on the AI front, you can now use AI to quickly create new apps and remove music from a video, but concerns about an AI bubble are becoming more prevalent.

If every company is truly a software company now, it stands to reason that product management will become more prevalent in organizations that develop software for their own use. A common term for this type of software is internal product, implying that you can approach this scenario with an approach similar you would to other digital products. There are of course differences as well, which we highlight in the resources below. Meanwhile, in product news, AI takes center stage (I know that comes as a surprise) as a competitor to Google Docs promises protection from AI’s prying eyes, two different AI powered search engines take on Google, and Figma walks back it use of AI because it was too similar to apps from Apple.

Check out the latest episode of Rocketship.fm — where our very own Mike Belsito sits down with Amplitude’s Francois Ajenstat to talk about Amplitude’s role in this new AI era. 👇🏻👇🏻
In this week’s episode of Rocketship.fm, had a lot of fun talking with Francois Ajenstat — CPO at Amplitude — talking through Amplitude’s product practices over the past year. Francois emphasizes the importance of rapid experimentation, customer-centric problem-solving, and embracing discomfort in this new AI era… one that Amplitide has been an early mover in. We even touch up on a big question — will this new AI era have even bigger implications than the mobile revolution we saw 20 years ago? You can check out his answer on that (and the rest of our discussion) here: https://lnkd.in/ePR3w3yZ Product Collective Evergreen Podcasts

Here, product cycles are more like marathons than a race to the finish line. You’re playing a long game, integrating products into complex systems and juggling more tech debt and constraints. And with a larger cast of stakeholders and customers, aligning everyone’s expectations with the company’s goals is part of your daily hustle. https://lnkd.in/gzEjxvhs

Startups and enterprises take decidedly different approaches to product development. A common perception is that early seed companies tend to be fast-paced and overly active. while large, established corporations are more leisurely and steady in their approach. Nick Saraev with Fibery explores the reason for that perception with a look at the day-to-day roles and responsibilities of a PM in an enterprise company and a couple of case studies of enterprise product development in action. https://lnkd.in/gzEjxvhs

Mention the word “enterprise” and people will inevitably think about Star Trek, or a really big organization. We can’t remember any product managers boldly going where no one had gone before, unless they were the ones wearing the red uniforms. So when we talk enterprise product management, we mean where you’re a product manager in a big company, or building products for big companies, or both. Here are some resources exploring the unique opportunities, and challenges of building products in and for larger organizations. Meanwhile in product management news, browsers are targeting the enterprise, a startup makes comprehensive documentation agile, Europe is looking at data centers in space, and Apple is making it easier to communicate with Android, sort of.

Can Every Sales-Driven Company be Transformed to Being Product-Led? Jason Knight was chatting to Rich Shnieder on his Slack community recently and he posed this simple-looking question: “Do you believe that every sales-driven organization can be transformed to being product-led, or are some businesses just always destined to be sales-driven?” Jason’s first answer was “No!” - but then he had some follow-ups.
