When it comes to Debt Servicing and Collections, often the belief in the Operations team is that the collector that secures a payment or a promise to pay (PTP) on a call is the star and should be incentivized. While this is often true, one aspect that gets overlooked is the set of activities with the account leading upto the call that secured the payment or a PTP. These calls or interactions could be digital that were gently nudging the consumer towards payment without providing them a bad experience on such interactions. It is worth looking at previous interactions with the consumer: all the collectors that have had a part in it (including digital communications) and then taking the right call. At Prodigal, we call it the Account journey and how that influences the overall performance. What are some of the minor but important misses that the collectors or collection teams often commit throughout the account journey that could lead to a loss or delay of an eventual payment or PTP?
