Starting with our Luminaries Solo Exhibition with Rafael Fuchs, we just closed our doors on our second event in the space for the WeCreate Group Exhibition! The event was a fabulous night of panel discussions with our artists and networking with our fellow community. Spotlight on our Printique Partner Christy C of Christigraphy. 🖊️📸✨ Who are you: A: I am Christy, a calligraphy and engraving artist who relocated from Hong Kong to New York City two years ago! Tell us a bit how you got here: Q:How did you start in calligraphy, and what made you jump into your passion full time? A: Writing and doodling have always been my passions since I was small. I would doodle while eating dim sum with my family (I grew up in Hong Kong). But I did not know calligraphy could become a business! Not until my friend was planning her wedding, and I helped her design all her wedding stationery! I started posting my work on Instagram and slowly got more and more commission requests. I continue to expand my connections and clients through word of mouth. Q:Tell us about the process of incorporating your calligraphy into your wedding album. A: While planning our wedding album, I wanted to convey our story in New York and showcase what I love and treasure. Naturally, the album includes everything I love: my husband, New York City, and calligraphy. I calligraphed my favorite quotes and our wedding song onto our wedding photos, which definitely gave our photos extra meaning. Q: What elements were important to you in designing and creating your wedding album, and how did Printique fit into your vision? A: Calligraphy, to me, is a dancing stroke that tells stories. While designing the album, I wanted to ensure it told our story. From our day-to-day life on the streets of New York City to chasing our American dream on the Top of the Rock, I tried to immerse my calligraphy into the album. Printique did an amazing job printing high-quality photos and crafting a beautiful leather cover. It is luxurious and chic. I love how it transformed the whole album into a keepsake. Here are 5 things you probably didn't know about our WeCreate pro photographer, Limor Garfinkle: 👇 📸Originally from the South of Israel, she relocated to NYC after her IDF military service. 📸She earned a degree in communications design while working at Grey NYC and SMA NYC. 📸 Limor started her photographic journey as a wedding photojournalist. 📸 She transitioned to shooting global ad campaigns and commercial spaces in NYC. 📸 Currently, she shoots interiors for companies like Spotify and Warner Music Group and works on the Comedians photo series in her free time.
