The Massachusetts House Democrats are pushing forward with a clean energy bill aimed at streamlining the approval process for new clean energy projects and increasing the state’s reliance on renewable energy sources. Like the Senate’s version of the bill, the House’s bill focuses on simplifying permitting for clean energy infrastructure, setting deadlines for permit decisions, and consolidating approval processes, with an expectation of acceleration permitting timelines. However, there remain differences between the House and Senate bills, including the procurement process and regulatory oversight. Critics argue that the House Bill favors utility companies in selecting clean energy bids, which would potentially sideline consumer protections and environmental considerations. Nevertheless, the siting potions of the House and Senate bills are aligned, and lawmakers are optimistic about reaching compromises before the legislative session ends. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gf9wxj3R. For any questions regarding the bill, please reach out to Adam Braillard, Patrick Kealy, or any other member of Prince Lobel’s Renewable Energy Group.
