3 Generations Working for 1 Great Company Don Faulkner- 40 YOS Don Faulkner started his career at Precoat Metals in 1969. Don worked in multiple operator positions at both the St. Louis and Granite City locations to include the startup of the Northgate facility in the early 80’s. Don eventually worked his way back to the St. Louis plant taking over as a production/plant manager converting St. Louis to a light gauge container facility that it is today. Mike Faulkner- 35 YOS Mike Faulkner, the son of Don, began his career with Precoat in 1989. Mike says that his favorite role in Precoat was the Quality role because he had an opportunity to learn a lot about Precoat’s processes, people, and products. Mike has stayed with Precoat for 35 years because Precoat is a stable company. “I’ve seen this Company provide stability to its employees through a recession and through COVID. Precoat is a strong company and puts its employees first.” Mike would tell anyone considering Precoat as a career “This is a place that you can make a career. There is a lot of room for growth, it’s fair, and you get out of it what you put in.” “When I started with Precoat I was looking for a job, not only did I find a career, I also have a lifetime full of memories. On many different occasions I have said that you come to work to do a job that will allow you to provide for you and your family, if you make friends along the way, that is a bonus. I have met so many great people along the way, many I consider close friends including co-workers, vendors and customers. I know I can pick up the phone to call them anytime for advice, support or just a good laugh when needed. I am very thankful for the opportunities Precoat has provided me over the years.” Jake Faulkner- 1 YOS Jake Faulkner began his career in the Maintenance Department at our MMC location in Granite City in March of 2023. Jake quickly moved to our Washington MO plant where he has been instrumental in helping Maintenance prepare for the opening. Jake knew that he wanted to work in the Washington plant because he saw all the opportunities that would be available to him. He said that “It’s amazing to see a plant be built from the ground up, not only do I get to see it, but I’m learning so much about how the line operates and all the processes of coil coating.” Jake says that there are many benefits to working at Precoat, but mainly he has seen the life his dad and grandpa had, and he wants the same for himself. He saw the opportunities that they had and knew that if he worked as hard as they did, he too would have the same opportunities. Jake believes that his work ethic comes from seeing his dad work so hard for the last 35 years. Jake said that he is looking forward to his future with Precoat and that he hopes to follow in his dad and grandpa’s footsteps one day. “Work hard, and things will work out.”
