“The arts ecosystem looks different … though it hasn’t gone anywhere.” Hyperallergic stopped by Community Day last weekend—read their recap here. An immense thank you to our partner organizations, volunteers, and everyone who came out and made it such a success! 💥 This week we are excited to participate in EXPO CHICAGO (Apr 11-14)—our first art fair—where we will present new works from our recently launched Print Publishing Program! We're debuting editions by artists Alex Dodge, Julia Wachtel, and Michael Joo, to join artist Ivan Forde, who debuted his print edition last fall. The PHA Print Publishing Program was established to introduce collectors to a diverse range of artists and technical processes made possible through their collaboration with the PHA Printshop. Each participating artist is personally invited by PHA to produce an edition of 30-50 prints. Artists receive 50% of the proceeds from sales, with the remainder redirected back into the PHA Printshop. https://lnkd.in/eQTJ2kxu

"There is a better way to fund the arts in America. It requires a leap of faith and creative cultural and political organizing to achieve a change in mind-set." Laura Hanna, Chair of the Powerhouse Arts Board of Directors, co-wrote this The New York Times op-ed with Laura Raisovich, former Director of Queens Museum. https://lnkd.in/eRvJwMia

A big voice, big beats, and big art demand a big room, so we loved having Ariana Grande in the Grand Hall at Powerhouse Arts recently to film the music video for the dancefloor-ready “yes, and?”, her first solo single in nearly four years. https://lnkd.in/eA9XPRCu #PHA #PowerhouseArts #ArianaGrande #yesand Special thanks to London Alley Entertainment

For work now on display in “Grounded in Clay,” The Metropolitan Museum of Art's first community-curated Native American exhibition, Michael Namingha worked with PHA printshop director Luther Davis and other members of our team to screenprint with soil gathered from ancestral land. We're proud to have played such an integral and collaborative role in this special project.

We're honored to receive The Municipal Art Society of New York' 2023 MASterworks Design Award for Best New Urban Amenity —”for an addition to the built environment that contributes to a more livable city”—thanks in large part to the inspired work of PBDW Architects and Herzog & de Meuron. Municipal Art Society envisions “a future in which all New Yorkers share in the richness of city life—where growth is balanced, character endures, and a resilient future is secured”—so we couldn’t be happier about this award. https://lnkd.in/eRdjRvkQ
