These NYU students went from DJs to co-founders to build the world's fastest growing ticketing startup with 1M+ users.
Avante Price and Eli Taylor-Lemire were NYU students by day.
By night? Immersed in the NYC music scene.
Avante was making waves performing as a DJ and Eli was building his name as a videographer for up and coming hip hop artists.
Both were ambitious and shared a desire to create upscale social events for undergraduate college students that greek life couldn't provide.
POSH first emerged to host these kind of gatherings, but after COVID-19 hit, Avante and Eli saw a bigger vision.
When it comes to organizing and marketing a paid event, what tools were available?
Eventbrite's corporate brand didn't appeal to young event marketers, especially for nightclubs and concerts, and Ticketmaster exclusively served the largest of events.
Today, POSH gives event hosts a comprehensive suite of tools to throw and monetize an event - from a landing page, to payment processing, and unlimited SMS blasts.
But their vision is so much bigger.
The average revenue for an event thrown with POSH is $4300, creating a viable new hustle for social entrepreneurs.
POSH wants to create a new economy in the events space - allowing entrepreneurs of all kinds to build businesses in their ecosystem.
For example, imagine organizing an event and hiring your caterers, security, and photography team all through the same platform?
My co-founder and I, Simran Sandhu, sold our business at the ages of 22 and 24.
Now we have a podcast with Morning Brew where we study other young entrepreneurs who've managed to succeed so early on.
