    CEO, Upcycled Food Association

What a wonderful NYC whirlwind to celebrate the last week of #UpcycledFoodMonth! 🌎🍽️💚 Thanks to all who came to learn about the latest in #upcycledfoods on the Specialty Food Association #FancyFoodShow Big Idea stage & grateful for a lovely evening celebrating Upcycled Food Association members founding, present & future at Rethink Food. Ken Baker & team prepared delicious bites featuring members Matriark Foods, Blue Circle Foods & Renewal Mill, rounding out the menu from their upcycled ingredients of the week! We raised a glass of The Spare Food Co. whey tonic to member collaboration, hearing how Planet FWD supports both Jeremy Kaye, Anna Hammond & teams to measure and track their impact. We appreciate Planet FWD’s generous support for our evening as well as the ongoing discount they offer UFA members interested in #LCA measurement and more. Reach out to Lauren Gibbons, Sonja Gabrielsen, Jake Siegler, Monye Pitt & team to see how you can collaborate! Today also marked a months awaited conversation with a journalist who flew all the way from Korea to interview UFA as a first stop on a global feature on upcycled food for a key newspaper. If you are working on upcycled food in Denmark or Japan, she would love to connect. Last, but not least IRL UFA team time with the amazing Eden Merkle, Grace L. & Sophia Cook was a joy! I couldn’t have done this all without you three! Next up: two final webinars to finish out #UpcycledFoodMonth 2024: 6/27 8a PT - Upcycled Food Foundation Research Fellow Lightning Symposium 6/28 11a PT - UFA member panel on The State of Food Upcycling! Head of Growth @ Planet FWD | GreenBiz 30U30 | Climate Tech & ESG Investing

So proud to announce that I made the 2024 GreenBiz 30 Under 30 List! ⚡ As a Gates Scholar, I studied the intersections of environment, policy, and economics with the intention of equipping myself to do the critical work of shifting our systems to better serve people & planet. 🌍 That led me into private equity, conducting diligence and building ESG investment strategies for leading private equity funds with Malk Partners influencing over $300B in AUM towards more socially responsible investment. From there, I knew working closer on climate was not only my calling, but what our generation needs from each of us. I joined Julia Collins at Seed stage and have been building Planet FWD into the leading decarbonization platform for consumer companies ever since. 🚀 This journey has allowed me to connect with inspiring change-makers, explore the world, and voice my perspectives. It's just the beginning—I'm committed to being a lifelong learner, entrepreneur, and storyteller channeling everything I've got to make this world a better place. 🌱 Thank you to everyone personally and professionally that I get the honor of being with on this journey. 💜 Special thanks to the GreenBiz Group team for this honor & congratulations to my fellow #Greenbiz30U30 Class members. It’s FLAG Day in the United States! 🇺🇲 To celebrate, we want to take a moment to spotlight the successes of Science Based Targets initiative. Although the world is behind on the Paris Agreement goals, recent research has shown that companies that do report to the SBTi collectively reduced their emissions by 29% between 2015 and 2020. What’s more, companies working with the SBTi are cutting emissions TWICE as fast as needed to align with 1.5°C. This progress is HUGE. And setting SBTi FLAG targets only moves us closer to those goals. Have you set SBTi FLAG targets yet? If you operate in any of the following spaces, you’re likely required to report SBTi FLAG targets: 🥕 Food Production  🥫 Food and Beverage Processing  🛒 Food and staples retailing  🌲 Forest and Paper products 🚬 Tabacco If you fall into one of these categories, you will need to account for FLAG emissions and removals. If you’re curious to dive deeper, check out this practical guide from Planet FWD’s own Allison Koehle. https://lnkd.in/e586aBYh
