Yes, yes they can. 🎉 We’re SO thrilled to announce that the incredible Kim Ng will be joining the Athletes Unlimited team as a Senior Advisor, focusing on our efforts to build the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL)! ➡️ ICYMI, Kim is a trailblazing baseball executive who became the first woman to serve as General Manager of a major American men’s professional sports team with the Miami Marlins and loanDepot park. She has an amazing track record of success, most recently leading the 2023 Marlins to post the fourth best winning percentage in the history of the franchise and earning their first full-season postseason berth in 20 years. 🥎 Before more than three decades in professional baseball – working not only with the Marlins, but also as an executive for the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and as the SVP of Baseball Ops for Major League Baseball (MLB) – Kim played softball at the University of Chicago. Now, she will return to her softball roots with us at the AUSL. 🚨 BREAKING SOFTBALL NEWS: Athletes Unlimited launches the AUSL, a traditional format women’s professional softball league! Today, we are officially announcing the launch of the newest addition to the exploding pro women’s sports landscape– the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL)! ➡️ Launching in 2025, the AUSL will feature four teams playing a 30-game season (60 total games) in a traditional format, complementing the existing AU Pro Softball Championship Season and creating a new opportunity for the world’s best players to compete. The AUSL will become a city-based league beginning in 2026, while the inaugural season in 2025 will be a touring property featuring games in 6-8 different cities. The existing AU Pro Softball Championship Season will follow the conclusion of the AUSL season and will be renamed the AUSL Champions Cup beginning in 2025, while continuing to use AU’s innovative scoring model to crown an individual champion. 📺We’ve signed ESPN on as a founding broadcast partner and they will carry at least 18 games exclusively on its linear platforms (ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU) when the league kicks off next year. 🥎Additionally, Softball legends Jessica Mendoza, Cat Osterman and Natasha Watley OLY have signed on as advisors to the AUSL, and will consult with us and our current athletes on the strategic direction of the new league. There’s no better time than now to make this move to help grow the sport of Softball. We’re confident that both the growing popularity of Softball as well as our established position in the sport, and infrastructure, will set the AUSL up for success.
