About the Pittsburgh Playhouse – The Pittsburgh Playhouse at Point Park University, is a 90,411 square-foot center for arts and entertainment that serves as an artistic laboratory for the prestigious Conservatory of Performing Arts (COPA) and Downtown Pittsburgh’s newest home for arts and entertainment. The Playhouse is comprised of professional, artist educators dedicated to an approach to training that enables students to pursue careers as professionals. COPA includes Departments of Theatre, Dance, and Cinema. The four-story, arts facility, located in Downtown Pittsburgh at 350 Forbes Avenue, features the 550-seat PNC Theatre,; the 200-seat Highmark Theatre, and the 99-seat Rauh Theatre.

This weekend, in a newly developed show, the Point Park University Conservatory of Performing Arts (COPA) students put on a variety of live performances—singing, dancing, poetry, and more— in a concert-style format, for sensory-friendly audiences. This past weekend, the Point Park University Honors Program celebrated the future of creativity as we hosted the Pittsburgh region's 2024 Scholastic Writing Awards in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Playhouse. The Scholastic Writing Awards, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, are the nation's longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. We're so proud of the young writers who were recognized for their Honorable Mentions, Silver Keys, Gold Keys, and American Voice Awards. The power of the written word has arguably never been more important as we face the challenges of the present and our future. We have faith in these young voices and feel honored that we could participate in honoring them.
