We’re thrilled to share that Ping Pong for Good was recently spotlighted in this inspiring story about our program in Central Illinois! The segment features Ned Neuhaus, who plays an essential role in bringing and facilitating our program in Peoria. Ned explains how ping pong is more than a fun basement game—it significantly aids mental and physical processing, making it perfect for those with Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative conditions. Diagnosed with PD in 2013, Ned has experienced the positive impact of our science-based approach, combining bodyweight exercises, off-the-table drills, and on-the-table drills. While some come for competition, most join for social interaction, physical activity, and cognitive benefits. The results are clear: improved ping pong skills, balance, mental acuity, strength, and endurance. Our own Trent MacLean and beloved long-time participant, Farrel Levy, star in a heartfelt short film on Mediflix. This film dives into the crucial ON/OFF periods when medications are at their most and least effective, bringing to life their personal stories. It beautifully captures the ups and downs they face, highlighting the importance of maximizing those precious ON times. We had a great Parkinson's group session with some new volunteers at 888 Table Tennis Center at our SF location today! Young table tennis players Aarav and Tanvi Desai spent their morning with the class to share their knowledge with our participants and help them to improve in table tennis! Volunteers of all ages play a key role in our programs which are helping to make ping pong accessible as a therapeutic and fitness activity, especially for those with neurodegenerative conditions. Playing ping pong also promotes healthy aging! We had a great time participating in a live broadcast of Sunday Mornings with Twitchy Woman, hosted bySharon Krischer (aka “Twitchy Woman”) in Los Angeles! Our Co-Founders, Maureen McComsey and Trent MacLean, shared the origin story of Ping Pong for Good and Trent's own experience with PD. Congratulations to the entire 888TTC team on this significant achievement! The press event was attended by prominent leaders from USA Table Tennis, USOPC, members of the U.S. Olympic Team, and the incredible 888 athletes. Huifen Chan, Founder/President of 888TTC, shared the touching story of how table tennis transformed Huifen's son's life, inspiring the creation of 888TTC. This heartfelt story speaks to our shared commitment to making table tennis inclusive for all. We're thrilled to see the excitement around table tennis on both the competitive and therapeutic front.
