Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in FoxNews "The New York Times recently published a concerningly slanted report asserting that #PBMs inflate drug prices, while mischaracterizing contracting and payment options that #employers choose and value. Conspicuously absent from the piece is the fact that PBMs have no control over pricing. In fact, new data from the IQVIA Institute for Human Data Science found the list prices, which are not set by PBMs, increased nearly 5% in 2023. https://lnkd.in/eHdvBXMb

A new op-ed in Medium from JC Scott. "A lot of ink has been spilled on the topic of #prescription #drug prices and how #Congress can address out-of-pocket costs for Americans. Unfortunately, much of the narrative has been shaped by incomplete press reports and over-simplified talking points that wrongly point the finger at #PBMs." https://lnkd.in/eVH_RXUA

Former Rep. Jason Altmire: "During the Ways & Means mark-up, Rep. John Larson (D-CT) cited a University of Chicago study that estimates delinking in Medicare Part D will cost $3 to $10 billion per year. The report concludes that “this #‘delinking’ policy has the potential to significantly (i) increase drug prices, (ii) reduce drug utilization, and (iii) redistribute billions of dollars annually from patients and taxpayers to pharmacy companies and drug manufacturers.” https://lnkd.in/emCrtqSg

#PBMs promote greater #competition in the drug market and on the pharmacy level, helping patients save on drug costs, which is why #BigPharma and other special interests are fixated on scapegoating them: It would boost their own bottom line. https://lnkd.in/ev6jFAkn

Today we saw yet another sensationalized story from the New York Times blaming pharmacy benefit managers for all sorts of things based on anecdotes and data that are not representative of our industry. The fact is, every day we deliver better care, value, and service for millions of Americans. Thousands of companies big and small, hundreds of government entities, dozens of unions, and many other payors count on PBMs to make the use of prescription drugs safer and more affordable. How can something so true be so ignored?
Same story + new anecdotes = old news
