About us
Prison Fellowship® trains and inspires churches and communities—inside and outside of prison—to support the restoration of those affected by incarceration. We equip correctional leaders, volunteers, and incarcerated men and women to make prisons more rehabilitative places; we advocate for a more restorative criminal justice system; and we collaborate with churches and local service providers to support former prisoners, their families, and their communities. Seek justice. Love mercy. Restore hope. Interested in volunteering with us? Please visit our Take Action page: http://bit.ly/356fJE8 ============== Prison Fellowship is a national, nonprofit organization founded in 1976 by former Nixon aide Charles Colson. Colson was incarcerated for Watergate-related charges and could not forget those he had left behind prison walls. He launched Prison Fellowship to give prisoners the opportunity to experience the radically transforming power of Christ that he had already experienced. We are so excited to debut our new mission: To encounter Jesus with those impacted by incarceration. Prison Fellowship will continue to carry on the work envisioned by founder Chuck Colson with a renewed focus on church partnerships, including with the Church inside of prisons. Since 1976, Prison Fellowship has aimed to bring restoration to those behind bars and their families. Today, Prison Fellowship celebrates the way we encounter Jesus together when we come alongside the Church inside. We hope to see a revival of the Church inside and outside prison that brings justice, mercy, and hope to our culture.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the day our founder, Chuck Colson, went to prison. His daughter, Emily Colson, remembers the heartache she felt as she visited his cell and reflects on the hope she now sees looking back. "It was as if when Jesus sat with us in that cramped room, He had a picture in His wallet of what would be today, 50 years later. He already saw the extraordinary ministries that would arise: Prison Fellowship and The Colson Center. He saw the millions of lives that would be infused with courage and transformed by the hope of the Gospel." Read Emily's WORLD News Group piece at the link below.

Prison Fellowship received this encouraging story from an Angel Tree mom: "My son had so much fun at camp, but more importantly Breakaway Camp made a huge impact on him. My son has been struggling with his father’s new 15-year-sentence, and he has had a rough year at school. He came home telling me he felt like he found his people. He connected with the leaders and the stories they shared. He came home feeling seen and having witnessed how kids like him can still grow up and make a difference! My son is 12 and already making plans to become a junior counselor when he is old enough. Thank you for allowing him to attend this year; he could not have without the scholarship." —Megan, mother of Angel Tree camper Ayden It’s not too late to help a child like Ayden have a life-changing, Jesus-encountering experience at camp! Angela's challenge as a returning citizen belongs to a long list of legal barriers faced by people with a criminal record, known as collateral consequences. “I try not to dwell on the past. However, I’m 100% aware that my past led me to where I am now, and I love where I am now.” Angela is now Prison Fellowship’s legal and advocacy operations manager. Second chances create cycles of renewal and bright futures! You can read more about Angela’s story here: https://bit.ly/3ROOgRP

Rifle in hand, Jarell's encounter with God stopped him dead in his tracks. What happened next led him to true freedom: freedom from addiction, freedom from things that held him in bondage in his past, and freedom to serve the Lord.
