About us
P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization), one of the pioneer societies for women, was founded on January 21, 1869, by seven students at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Originally a small campus friendship society, P.E.O. soon blossomed to include women off campus. Today, P.E.O. has grown from that small membership of seven to almost a quarter of a million members in chapters in the United States and Canada. The P.E.O. Sisterhood is passionate about its mission: promoting educational opportunities for women. Our sisterhood proudly makes a difference in women's lives with six philanthropies that include ownership of Cottey College, a women’s college with two-year and selected four-year programs, and five other philanthropies that provide higher educational assistance which include the P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund, P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund, P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education, P.E.O. Scholar Awards, and P.E.O. STAR Scholarship. P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College; and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations. www.peointernational.org

Update for local chapters on the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education! A local chapter will continue to vote to sponsor an applicant but is no longer required to suggest a grant amount when submitting their chapter recommendation. PCE applicants are now required to complete a Proof of Enrollment form as part of the application process. This form will be part of the online application and can also be found on the International website: https://lnkd.in/gKPJFm2H.
-
The Member Update form has been refreshed. This streamlined form can be found on the P.E.O. International website by clicking Manage Membership under the Membership tab or by searching "member update." All members should use the form to update their own contact information and all local chapter officers can use it to report chapter membership changes. Reporting changes is the corresponding secretary's duty, but all officers have access to this section of the form and can provide assistance.

Founders’ Day is a special day where we honor our seven founders. Starting in 2025, you can honor our past, while celebrating the present, with International P.E.O. Day! In conjunction with Founders' Day on January 21, this is an opportunity to spread the mission of P.E.O. out in the community. Wear your P.E.O. apparel and perform an act of community service and spread the word about P.E.O.
