  • According to Christopher Hill of EdenBase, companies often fail due to a lack of product-market fit or launching ahead of the right market conditions. Using Facebook as an example, Hill notes they succeeded where earlier social networks like Friendster could not - largely due to decreasing infrastructure costs over time. Where Friendster spent exorbitantly on servers, making their business model unsustainable, technological progress allowed Facebook's model to be viable when the market was primed. Sometimes, great ideas emerge before the enabling technology and economics align. For startups, nailing both the product and timing for the market opportunity is crucial. #productmarketfit

  • Griffin Hermes, a principal at Pegasus Angel Accelerator, shares his thoughts on the red flags he looks out for when evaluating founders. He emphasizes the importance of founders' willingness to work with investors and understanding the venture capital process. Hermes cautions against launching multiple companies simultaneously, raising at unrealistic valuations, or raising excessive capital for the current stage of the business.
