  • Thank you to all attendees of our 9th Women in Life Sciences event on June 20, 2024! The PDA WCC is grateful to Genentech for graciously hosting this event in South San Francisco, and to the plethora of sponsors that were present and provided tables, raffles, prizes, and audience engagement opportunities. PDA WCC could not have had this event without the incredible sponsors and we thank them their continued support. 🌟 Event Recap This year’s Women in Life Sciences event focused on allyship and the importance of mentors. The moderator for the evening was Marian McKee, Vice President of BioPharma Biosafety Testing at Eurofins BioPharma Product Testing and a long time advocate for young girls to pursue STEM careers. She kicked off the panel with her personal journey into allyship and discussions with our esteemed panelists, Cecilia del Rosario, MSM, Sr. Director of GXP Quality Assurance at Revolution Medicines; Marlin Frechette, Chief Compliance and Quality Officer at FujiFilm; Francesca Lamb, MPH, PMP, Sr. Director of Product Development Strategies at Genentech; and Aine Hanly, CTO & EVP of Technical Operations and Quality at Vir Biotechnology. Each of the panelists had a different path to success, but they all agreed that having a mentor early on who believes in your potential was key to their individual triumphs. It was incredible to listen to each of their own journeys and experiences that led them to their current positions. The panel shared positive and “lot to be desired” experiences effortlessly and made it a very authentic discussion. The allyship discussions also quickly traced their paths to the role of mentors and mentees. It is very important to find a mentor and this could be anyone who inspires you to pursue your goals and believes in you. There was much discussion on this and the audience engagement was very interactive because Marian made it so! That model for the panel in itself made the evening a very engaging, authentic and lively one. The PDA WCC thanks Marian McKee for moderating this discussion with passion and creativity and our incredible panelists Cecilia del Rosario, Marlin Frechette, Francesca Lamb and Aine Hanly for sharing their experiences and expertise to make this event meaningful and keeping the discussion genuine. Special thanks to Sumin Dong, PMP and Alaina Graham for leading this event and all of our PDA WCC volunteers and attendees for contributing to the success of this event! We look forward to seeing you all at our next event, Oktoberfest Networking and Vendor Night on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Devil's Canyon Brewing Company, San Carlos!
