About us
Vincent Lo Curcio, Sr., started the family business in 1932 by selling fruits and vegetables. In 1953, his family built a “superette” called Park Foods and was joined by Thomas Infusino, a butcher by trade. After the Lo Curcios joined Wakefern in 1954, Vincent Jr., and Thomas became partners, bringing their families together to work toward the goal of providing the community with a family-friendly supermarket that offered consistent service, quality and value. Today, three generations of the Lo Curcio family work side-by-side in their Nutley and Belleville stores. The Tomato. Is there any better seasonal pickin’? Yes, most of us enjoy them year round but is there any other food that reminds you more of Summer and warmer weather? Watermelon, corn , certain grilled selections and other items all do fit the bill but there is nothing quite like a tomato. Especially here in New Jersey. We can enjoy them fresh with some basil and mozz, thrown in a salad, or maybe sliced to put on a sandwich or burger. We can even make them into a sauce to be used fresh or to be jarred for pasta and other dishes all year long. It’s uses are infinite but amount of varieties are as well. From Roma to Brandywine , and cherry to orange it would take all day to list them. Each with its own unique trait and flavor profile. So enjoy your Summer and be grateful every time you bite into that juicy slice. For what would we do without #tomatoes? 🍅 “The raw tomato, devoured in the garden when freshly picked, is a horn of abundance of simple sensations, a radiating rush in one's mouth that brings with it every pleasure. . . . a tomato, an adventure” Muriel Barbary

-------Aurelio "Al" Pulido was our General manager for 35 years. From 1956 to 1991 Al became the stuff of legends around here. If you asked anyone who knew him what they thought about Mr. Pulido they would all respond with a resounding "the best manager they have ever known, and someone with an unmatched work ethic and matching mind for the business" . Beyond his unrivaled superlatives, it was the trust and bond that developed between him and ownership which became invaluable. With that type of relationship, any business would flourish. I bet many didn't worry about the stores lights being on after hours for it was probably Al just doing inventory. Of course, he was also a World War Two veteran and all around gem from that generation. The Greatest Generation. Time Magazine once did a piece titled "All-American Selection" and used Al for the articles photograph. Here is are some photos from that shoot and an excerpt - "Manager of the supermarket, leading community businessman, the purveyor of eating pleasure to thousands. A triple-threat man, and late for his own dinner again. For it's his business to keep track of some 6,000 items in stock; to make sure you have available the most convenient, wholesome, dependable food and grocery products selection in the world; to make your shopping as enjoyable as possible"
