Connecting research and researchers

About us

ORCID’s mission is to enable transparent and trustworthy connections between researchers, their contributions, and their affiliations by providing a unique, persistent identifier for individuals to use as they engage in research, scholarship, and innovation activities. We do this by providing three important things: 1. The ORCID iD: a unique, persistent identifier free of charge to researchers 2. An ORCID record connected to the ORCID iD, and 3. A set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), as well as the services and support of communities of practice that enable interoperability between an ORCID record and member organizations so researchers can choose to allow connection of their iD with their affiliations and contributions ORCID is a global, not-for-profit organization sustained by fees from our member organizations. We are community-built and governed by a Board of Directors representative of our membership with wide stakeholder representation. ORCID is supported by a dedicated and knowledgeable professional staff.

ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) hesabı, elmi tədqiqatçılar üçün çox vacib bir vasitədir. Bu, məqalə təqdim etmə, qrant müraciətləri və digər akademik fəaliyyətlər zamanı prosesləri asanlaşdırır. #ORCID-in bu cür inteqrasiyalarından faydalanaraq, tədqiqat işlərinizi daha səmərəli idarə edə bilərsiniz. Əgər elmi tədqiqatçısınızsa və hələ də, ORCID hesabınız yoxdursa, ORCID veb saytına daxil olaraq tez bir zamanda hesab yarada bilərsiniz. Bu, gələcəkdə akademik fəaliyyətlərinizi izləmək və tanıtmaq üçün vacibdir. #ORCID ORCID

We are making Open Researcher and Contributor IDs (ORCID) mandatory across all our journals 🔏 Why? Because ORCIDs help to: 👉 prevent ambiguity for authors 👉 strengthen research integrity 👉 promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency 👉 benefit both authors and the broader scientific community!

Check out this blog about ORCID adoption on Northwestern’s campus over at Lyrasis. "In 2022, along with bringing together a mostly new team, Northwestern decided to undergo an ORCID Data Review. This ORCID Data Review would be a review of current adoption of ORCID at Northwestern University, and would provide leadership at Northwestern with a better understanding of the current state of ORCID data associated with the university. As a part of the review, the recommendations outlined would also provide descriptions of ORCID API integration capabilities in Northwestern software systems, examine pathways for authenticating ORCID iDs, and share how to enrich data in Northwestern researchers’ ORCID profiles."
