    How we secured the perfect controller for a leading CFO in Charlotte 🔍⤵️ Our client, the CFO of a highly profitable organization in the Charlotte market, urgently needed a new Controller. This position, a pivotal role from an accounting operations perspective, required a change agent to help streamline processes and procedures. The ideal candidate needed to possess a CPA, have a blend of public accounting and SaaS experience and be proficient with NetSuite software. Leadership skills to guide the team through growth initiatives were also a must. Given the nationwide shortage of accounting talent and the specific expertise required, this was a particularly challenging search. 📝 Strategy: How We Tackled the Challenge ⤵ We initiated our search by leveraging our extensive network of accounting and finance professionals. However, the timing or the mix of experience often didn't align. Knowing the client's preference for public accounting experience, we turned to LinkedIn to identify candidates with the desired blend of public and industry backgrounds. We narrowed our search by targeting specific SaaS companies in the Charlotte market, identifying companies using NetSuite, and looking into manufacturers known for their high-caliber accounting and finance teams. Our approach yielded a broad pool of candidates. We engaged in detailed conversations to evaluate their fit for the role, focusing on their expertise and readiness to embrace a pivotal position. ✅ Results: Delivering Excellence Our ability to listen to our client's needs and accurately translate that into our search process paid off. We presented four top-tier candidates, with three moving forward to interviews. The client had a well-defined interview process and provided timely feedback, ensuring a positive candidate experience. Despite having three strong contenders, the very first candidate we presented stood out and ultimately accepted the offer.     THE NEED FOR SPEED 👏 𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐈’𝐦 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮! I want to talk about speed in the hiring process. I’ve received multiple comments from candidates in the last 2 weeks relating to a company’s speed with interview decisions, feedback, and/or offer process that they said directly impacted their decision on whether to move forward. One candidate said, “𝘮𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. 𝘟𝘠𝘡-𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺 (𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘤𝘺) 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮, 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵.” He summarized that he felt like an interview process could tell a lot about how a company and its people get things done. ✅ Now, I’m not saying to be the “one and done” interview process. But are there ways to improve? Most likely, YES. Here are some thoughts to get you started: 🔹𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! Is the hiring manager traveling? Are there several other interviews this week and you’re waiting until they complete? Is there an internal meeting or deadline that takes precedence over the hiring process? Great, TELL THEM. The only thing worst than the waiting game is not knowing WHY there is a waiting game. 🔹𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬 – Hiring managers, put yourselves in the shoes of a candidate. They are likely jumping through hoops to find time to talk during business hours, taking PTO to come onsite, and some even doing this with multiple opportunities. The more time you can save them, the better they feel going through the process. And the better they feel, the more likely they are to want the job! 🤗 Here are some tips: ✔️ Get crystal clear on the whole interview process and ideal timing of when you need the role filled before starting initial screenings ✔️ Virtual interviews ✔️ First or second interview with direct hiring manager (people want to see if they vibe) ✔️ One interview with two decision makers instead of two separate interviews 🔹𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬. Time kills deals, especially in this job market. If you’re excited about a candidate, move quickly because they likely won’t be on the market for long AND it’s a better experience for them.
