About us
The Oklahoma Broadband Office (OBO) is responsible for implementing the State Broadband Plan which includes making reliable, affordable, high-speed internet available to at least 95% of Oklahomans. The OBO, along with assistance from the Broadband Governing Board and the Broadband Expansion Council, will create and administer grant program funding to achieve Oklahoma’s aggressive broadband internet goal by June 2028. The State of Oklahoma currently expects to invest more than $1 billion in state and federal funding for broadband infrastructure and accessibility.

At our July governing board meeting, Chairman Jim Meek shared positive takeaways on broadband expansion efforts in Oklahoma, including his excitement to see our grant programs spurring new, local jobs in the industry. Director Mike Sanders provided an update that the CPF program. The application portal closed on July 8, with submitted projects totaling over $1 billion in requests. $159 million is available through CPF grants. Calling all Tulsa Fiber Aficionados! OSUIT Workforce and Economic Development is offering a FREE Fiber Optics Summer Camp for Tulsa High School students (July 22-25 or July 29-Aug. 2). This program will teach the basics of fiber technology and provide a head start toward well-paying, in-demand careers including fiber technician, fiber splicer and network engineer.
